FANTASIES OF A FRACTURED HEART
by Mercedes Rothwell
I searched throughout the land,
Wandering from man to man.
That which I searched for I did not find,
I did not find that man of mine.
On the beach I sat and cried,
My tears as salty as the tide.
Over the sea, a voice called to me,
It echoed from across the briny.
‘My love, my love, at last I have found you,’
I peered into the vapors wishing I could see him too.
The vapors swirled, pushed aside,
By a man with a steady stride.
He walked to me,
Fell on one knee
Kissed my hand,
And returned to sand.
