TRUST IN GOD AND DO THE RIGHT - by Norman Macleod

TRUST  IN  GOD  AND  DO  THE  RIGHT

by   Norman Macleod

Courage, brother ! do not stumble,
Though thy path is dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble -
Trust in God and do the right.

Let the road be long and dreary,
And its ending out of sight;
Foot it bravely - strong or weary -
Trust in God and do the right.

Perish policy and cunning,
Perish all that fears the light;
Whether losing, whether winning,
Trust in God and do the right.

Trust no party, church, or faction,
Trust no leader in the fight;
But in every word and action
Trust in God and do the right.

Trust no forms of guilty passion -
Friends can look like angels bright;
Trust no custom, school, or fashion -
Trust in God and do the right.

Some will hate thee, some will love thee;
Some will flatter, some will slight;
Cease from man and look above thee -
Trust in God and do the right.

Firmest rule, and safest guiding,
Inward peace and inward light;
Star upon our path abiding -
Trust in God and do the right.

WHY I NEED BIRDS - by Lisel Mueller

    WHY  I  NEED  BIRDS

by   Lisel Mueller

    When I hear them call
    in the morning, before
    I am quite awake,
    my bed is already traveling
    the daily rainbow,
    the arc toward evening;
    and the birds, leading
    their own discreet lives
    of hunger and watchfulness,
are with me all the way,
always a little ahead of me
    in the long-practiced manner
    of unobtrusive guides.

By the time I arrive at evening,
    they have just settled down to rest;
    already invisible, they are turning
    into the dreamwork of trees;
and all of us together —
    myself and the purple finches,
    the rusty blackbirds,
    the ruby cardinals,
    and the white-throated sparrows
    with their liquid voices —
ride the dark curve of the earth
    toward daylight, which they announce
    from their high lookouts
before dawn has quite broken for me.

THE SUNFLOWERS - by Mary Oliver

THE  SUNFLOWERS

by Mary Oliver

Come with me
into the field of sunflowers.
Their faces are burnished disks,
their dry spines
creak like ship masts,
their green leaves,
so heavy and many,
fill all day with the sticky
sugars of the sun.
Come with me
to visit the sunflowers,
they are shy
but want to be friends;
they have wonderful stories
of when they were young -
the important weather,
the wandering crows.
Don't be afraid
to ask them questions!
Their bright faces,
which follow the sun,
will listen, and all
those rows of seeds -
each one a new life !
hope for a deeper acquaintance;
each of them, though it stands
in a crowd of many,
like a separate universe,
is lonely, the long work
of turning their lives
into a celebration
is not easy. Come

and let us talk with those modest faces,
the simple garments of leaves,
the coarse roots in the earth
so uprightly burning.

THE JOURNEY - by Mary Oliver

THE  JOURNEY

by Mary Oliver

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice--
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do -
determined to save
the only life you could save.

CAPTURED HEART - by Doug Custer

CAPTURED  HEART

by   Doug Custer

As the sun rises early
to kiss the morning dew.
As the clouds dance so gracefully
against the sky so blue.

As the moon lights the ocean waves
that travels through the night.
As the flame burns unwavering
and brings the dark to light.

As the wind whispers softly
to stir the sleeping trees.
As the rain gently awakens
the flowers up with ease.

As the soul has a quenchless thirst
to be loved endlessly.
So is your love that's captured my heart
and holds it eternally.

YOU ARE LIKE THE WIND - by DL Burggraf

YOU  ARE  LIKE  THE  WIND

by   DL Burggraf

You are like the wind
I am like a tree
I have deep roots
you must be free.
Still, sometimes I let a leaf
blow along with thee
and sometimes you are still
and stay close to me.

LOVING YOU - by Mia Middonte

LOVING  YOU
by  Mia Middonte

Every string of my heart
Is strumming with emotion,
Releasing waves of rhythm
And the chorus of an ocean.

GIFT OF THE SEAGULL - by Munda

GIFT  OF  THE  SEAGULL

by Munda

A lonely seagull flies the winds
Majestic... soaring...gliding wings
A single screech sounds from the sky
Come fly with me... come here and fly

My spirit floats to be a part
I feel the beating of its heart
My soul, one with this bird of sea
Now knows the meaning to fly free

I feel the winds caress my soul
And soar the streams without a goal
My being trembles of delight
A treasure I received tonight

The seagull's flight of soaring high
The gift of what it means to fly

THE DREAM BOAT - by Sri Aurobindo

THE  DREAM  BOAT

by  Sri  Aurobindo

Who was it that came to me in a boat made of dream-fire,
With his flame brow and his sun-gold body ?
Melted was the silence into a sweet secret murmur,
“Do you come now ? is the heart’s fire ready ?”

Hidden in the recesses of the heart something shuddered.
It recalled all that the life’s joy cherished,
Imaged the felicity it must leave lost for ever,
And the boat passed and the gold god vanished.

Now within the hollowness of the world’s breast inhabits  -
For the love died and the old joy ended  -
Void of a felicity that has fled, gone for ever,
And the gold god and the dream boat come not.

UPSET - by Sherry Juliet

UPSET

by   Sherry Juliet

I get upset at you
not because you do anything wrong
you make me feel loved
you listen to me when I've had a rough day and need to talk
you hold me when I just need to be held

I get upset at you
because I'm upset at myself
for letting you in
for letting you love me

I get upset at you
because I hate having something to lose
I hate feeling this much
I hate losing control

I get upset at you
because you make it impossible
for me to be upset at you

I SING A SAD SONG - by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

I  SING  A  SAD  SONG

by  Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

I sing a sad song for the cold, lonely
Moments no one will admit to aloud.

I sing a sad song for all of the broken
Promises,
Wrought by circumstances beyond
Anyone's control.

I sing a sad song for the faces pressing
Against the window panes in longing.

I sing a sad song for wild anticipation
Of days that never come.

I sing a sad song for the telephone
That never rings enough.

I sing a sad song for dreams woven of
Hopeless illusions.

I sing a sad song for all of those who
Waste time, singing sad songs!

CLOSE THOSE SAD SAD EYES - by Beautiful Grim

CLOSE  THOSE  SAD  SAD  EYES

by Beautiful Grim

Close those sad sad eyes girl,
and let your feelings wash away,
Bring up nothing more than what you want to say,
So close those sad sad eyes girl,
realize your way,
I hope it all passes by my love,
and hope you it flies away
Now close your sad sad eyes girl,
and forget about your sad sad day.

WHAT IS A FRIEND ? - by Joanna Fuchs

WHAT  IS  A  FRIEND  ?

by Joanna Fuchs

A friend is someone always there
in the back of your mind,
providing feelings of comfort and security.
A friend is someone
who adds happy sparkle to your life,
joy, fun, a predictable creator of happiness.
A friend is a stormproof shelter
from life’s challenges, troubles, uncertainties,
an unassailable bond overcoming any challenge,
strengthening the connection in the process.
You are all this and more, my friend.
Thank you.

A FRIEND IS LIKE... - by Joanna Fuchs

BECAUSE YOU ARE MY FRIEND - by Joanna Fuchs

BECAUSE  YOU  ARE  MY  FRIEND

by Joanna Fuchs

Because you are my friend,
my life is enriched in a myriad of ways.
Like a cool breeze on a sweltering day,
like a ray of sunshine parting glowering clouds,
you lift me up.
In good times, we soar,
like weightless balloons
over neon rainbows.
In bad times, you are soothing balm
for my pummeled soul.
I learn so much from you;
you help me see old things in new ways.
I wonder if you are aware
of the bright seeds you are sowing in me.
I'm a better person for knowing you,
so that everyone I interact with
is touched by your good effect on me.
You relax me, refresh me, renew me.
Your bounteous heart envelops me
in joy and love and peace.
May your life be filled
with dazzling blessings,
just as I am blessed
by being your friend.
